Our Curriculum Approach

At Riyadh ul Uloom, our curriculum is designed to educate the whole child. We combine high-quality secular education with Islamic principles to support students academically, spiritually, morally, socially, and physically. Year 7 Overview

Year 7 is a crucial transition stage where students develop confidence, responsibility, and strong learning habits. Our Year 7 curriculum offers a broad and balanced range of subjects, delivered through structured termly planning to ensure progress and engagement throughout the year.

Subjects Offered

Our core subjects at Riyadh ul Uloom provide a strong academic foundation by developing essential skills such as literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and scientific understanding. Through structured and engaging lessons, students build confidence in communication, problem-solving, and independent learning, preparing them for success across the wider curriculum and future education.

Subject Highlights

English
Students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through literature, poetry, drama, and creative writing. Lessons focus on clear expression, confidence, and critical thinking.

Mathematics
Mathematics develops problem-solving, reasoning, numeracy, and logical thinking. Students learn to apply mathematical skills to real-life situations, building accuracy and confidence.

Science
Science is taught through biology, chemistry, and physics, combining theory with practical learning. Students explore scientific ideas that encourage curiosity, investigation, and understanding of the natural world.

Our foundation subjects at Riyadh ul Uloom broaden students’ understanding of the world, society, and their own identity. Subject Highlights

History
Students explore key historical developments to understand the past, identity, and the global influence of different civilisations. Lessons encourage critical thinking, questioning, and understanding change over time.

Urdu
Urdu lessons focus on developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students build confidence in communication while deepening their connection to language and cultural heritage.

Citizenship
Citizenship helps students understand their rights and responsibilities, democracy, and community involvement. Pupils also develop basic financial awareness and skills for responsible participation in society.

Our creative and practical subjects at Riyadh ul Uloom develop students’ imagination, innovation, and hands-on skills. Through engaging and project-based learning, pupils gain confidence in expressing themselves creatively while solving real-world problems and developing practical abilities.

Subject Highlights

Art
Students explore drawing, colour studies, collage, and 2D/3D creative projects. Lessons encourage self-expression, observation skills, and creative thinking.

Design & Technology
Design & Technology teaches practical skills through sewing, cooking, and 3D printing. Pupils learn to plan, design, and make solutions to real-life problems, developing creativity and technical knowledge.

Our Physical & Personal Development subjects at Riyadh ul Uloom focus on promoting physical health, wellbeing, teamwork, and character development. Students engage in activities that build discipline, resilience, and social skills while nurturing spiritual, moral, and cultural awareness.

Subject Highlights

Physical Education (PE)
Students participate in football, basketball, archery, cricket, rounders, and outdoor activities. Lessons encourage fitness, coordination, teamwork, and discipline.

SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Development)
SMSC lessons help students develop strong Islamic values, moral character, social responsibility, and cultural understanding. Activities and reflections promote self-awareness and empathy.

Our Alimiyyah Course provides Year 1 students with a strong foundation in Islamic knowledge. It combines practical learning with spiritual understanding to help students grow in faith, character, and Quranic skills.

Subjects Taught

  • Fiqh: Basics of Islamic law and daily practices

  • Aqeedah: Understanding Islamic beliefs and theology

  • Seerah: Life of the Prophet ﷺ and lessons from his example

  • Tajweed: Correct recitation and pronunciation of the Quran

  • Beginners Quran Translation: Understanding the meaning of the Quran in simple language

Learning Outcomes
